# Light Bulb-Inspired Stereos The 'Sound Bulb' Turns Old Light Sockets into Retro Radios By M | Published 2013-05-27 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sound-bulb References: [designboom](http://www.designboom.com/design/dominic-wilcox-sound-bulb/) & [variationsonnormal](http://variationsonnormal.com/) Inventor and designer Dominic Wilcox's 'Sound Bulb' is an illuminatingly creative way to turn [vintage stereo speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/d32) and old lighting fixtures into [works of art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonique). The 'Sound Bulb' implements a conventional light bulb screw socket with old-school radio systems. The electricity is then redirected to travel to the radio so that your favorite tunes can be played in a funky fresh way. The 'Sound Bulb' can be hung like a ceiling light or mounted on top of a lamp fixture as a quirky design element. While an extremely bizarre pairing, the light fixtures look super neat alongside the vintage radios. A great antique-inspired find, Dominic Wilcox's 'Sound Bulb' is a clever way to display a radio rather than having it sit conventionally on a desk or a table. I prefer the hanging ceiling radios, which one do you prefer?
