# Leaning Light Fixtures The SOSO Lamp Has a Tantalizing Tilt That Makes its Intensity Flexible By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soso-lamp References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/01/03/floor-lamp-soso-by-mifune-design-studio/) & [mifunedesignstudio.cocolog-nifty](http://mifunedesignstudio.cocolog-nifty.com/eng/product_design/index.html) Most [floor lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pivoting-lamps-collection) don't have the adaptability of desk lamps, by which you can alter the angle and direction of illumination. The SOSO Lamp has an incline built right into it that invites you to orient it according to your preference and as it pertains to its particular position in a room. Yasutoshi Mifune's modern illuminator has a [broad triangular base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-lamp) that gives it sufficient stability. As it extends upwards, however, the stand narrows significantly, giving it a pliable appearance by its slender silhouette. The gently arching spine of the SOSO Lamp causes the [cylindrical lampshade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp) to cant. Turn the arc away from your favorite reading chair, or towards a wall for a more diffuse source of light. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Adjustable Light Fixtures:** The trend of light fixtures with adaptable angles and directions of illumination allows for personalized lighting experiences. - **Slender Silhouette Design:** The trend of using a narrow and pliable appearance in light fixture design adds an element of modernity and flexibility. - **Canting Lampshades:** The trend of lampshades that can be tilted or canted provides a versatile and customizable lighting solution. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can benefit from embracing adjustable light fixtures to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of spaces. - **Lighting Technology:** The lighting technology industry can capitalize on the trend of slender silhouette design to create innovative and space-saving lighting solutions. - **Home Furnishings:** The home furnishings industry can tap into the market demand for canting lampshades to offer unique and customizable lighting options for consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tiltable Dimmable Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nod-lamp.md) - [Adjustable Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp.md) - [Elegant Axis-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-lamp.md) - [Shape-Shifting Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi.md) - [Reversible Glass Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jal.md) - [Umbrella-Inspired Whimsical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wasaga-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md)
