# Friendly Minimalist Furniture The Sorri Lounge Chair by Goncalo Campos is Shaped Like a Smile By Meghan Young | Published 2013-01-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sorri-lounge-chair References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/01/15/sorri-lounge-chair-by-goncalo-campos-for-wewood/) & [wewood.eu](http://www.wewood.eu/) Despite the simplicity of the Sorri Lounge Chair, there is a warm and welcoming vibe to it that gives it a ton of character. It helps that an adorable dog has made himself at home during the press photoshoot, effectively adding an air of familiarity and comfort to the piece of furniture. The Sorri Lounge Chair was beautifully designed by Gonçalo Campos, a Portuguese designer, for WEWOOD. The pleasant facade is perpetuated by its [gentle sloping surface](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monolit-chair), which dips down and out to better embrace a person's body. The designer writes, "Many design details were considered in this chair to stress its [solid construction](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dopio) and its main curve, remineschent of an inviting and assuring smile." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Furniture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating sleek and functional furniture designs with a minimalist aesthetic. - **Warm and Welcoming Furniture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in designing furniture that instills a sense of comfort and familiarity. - **Furniture with Character:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating furniture that stands out with unique design elements and personality. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in transforming traditional furniture manufacturing processes to align with minimalist design principles and create welcoming pieces. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in incorporating warm and welcoming furniture designs into interior spaces to enhance the overall atmosphere and comfort. - **Home Decor and Accessories:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in curating home decor and accessories that complement and enhance the character of furniture pieces, adding a personal touch to spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chunky Cylindrical Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/umi-armchair.md) - [Comforting Designer Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calma-lounge-by-layer.md) - [Wavy Lounge Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-lounge-chair.md) - [Soothing Boat-Like Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canoa-chair.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Pet-Friendly Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hound-lounge.md) - [Leftover Textile Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sugar-lounge-chair.md) - [Sustainable Curved Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gomo-armchair.md)
