# Sound-Absorbing Armchairs This Sophisticated Armchair is Perfect for Work and Privacy By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-08-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sophisticated-armchair References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/ara-armchair-perezochando-missana/?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds) & [missana.es](http://www.missana.es/en/15-modelos-en/338-ara-en) This sophisticated armchair was designed to reduce the ability to hear outside sounds. Called the 'Ara' armchair, the furniture item was designed by 'PerezOchando' for the furniture store 'Missana.' The chairs take the shape of half-cylinders and are cushioned at the bottom while the chair's back stands tall enough that the user cannot see past it. The sophisticated armchair sits on four thin legs that give the chair a modern aesthetic. The wrap-around feature that makes up the backrest of this chair allows it to absorb sound -- making for an excellent booth to work, read or rest in. These armchairs come in a variety of colors and are perfect for open-concept office spaces or home offices in order to protect privacy and reduce distractions while working. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sound-absorbing Armchairs:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the furniture industry by creating armchairs that provide privacy and reduce distractions in open-concept office spaces. - **Privacy-enhancing Furniture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the interior design industry by developing furniture pieces that create private and focused spaces in open-concept environments. - **Workplace Distraction Solutions:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the workspace industry by designing products that mitigate distractions and improve focus during work hours. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the furniture industry by creating armchairs that provide privacy and reduce distractions in open-concept office spaces. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the interior design industry by developing furniture pieces that create private and focused spaces in open-concept environments. - **Workspace Solutions:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the workspace industry by designing products that mitigate distractions and improve focus during work hours. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Avian-Inspired Privacy Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peacock-chair-concept.md) - [Sound-Absorbing Cozy Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buddyhub.md) - [Relaxed Anti-Distraction Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortune-chair.md) - [Natural Sound-Amplifying Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amplification-of-the-senses-chair.md) - [Sound-Blocking Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/room-phone-booth.md) - [Wellbeing-Harnessing Fan-Like Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shanti-chair.md) - [Comfy High-Backed Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highbacked-office-chair.md) - [Minimalist Privacy Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-seat-design.md) - [Minimalist Private Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarlux-soundproof-space.md)
