The 'Column' is a [suspended wooden pillar](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obelisk-3) with a marble cube base that houses a number of [drawers and cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apt-drawers). The marble cube acts as a stepping stool allowing you to reach the top levels of the 'Column.' Pillars are hardly ever considered to be anything but architectural necessities, which is what makes Sophie Mensen's 'Column' so cool and original. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Architectural Storage Solutions:** Exploiting architectural elements to create innovative storage solutions. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** Combining furniture and structural elements for dual-purpose functionality. - **Integration of Design and Storage:** Incorporating storage features seamlessly into architectural design. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to collaborate with architects and designers to create unique storage solutions. - **Interior Design:** Designers can focus on creating spaces that seamlessly integrate storage into their architectural designs. - **Home Improvement:** Opportunity for home improvement companies to offer architectural-inspired storage systems for homeowners. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Colorful Modular Storage Sysem](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/center-center-storage.md) - [Architecture-Inspired Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formfunctional-archifurniture.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Colorful Smart Storage Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linea-storage.md) - [Design-Forward Interlinked Storage Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interlinked-storage.md) - [Artisanal Interior Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dice-design-system.md) - [Architecture-Inspired Modular Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dust-order.md) - [Playful Storage Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets.md) - [Storage Box-Transformed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunks-and-blocks.md)
