President Barack Obama has named Sonia Sotomayor as the new U.S federal judge--the first Hispanic in U.S history to hold this Supreme Court title.

If the Senate agrees, Sonia Sotomayor will also be the third woman in U.S history to have a seat in the Supreme Court.

"Walking in the door, she [Sonia Sotomayor] would bring more experience on the bench and more varied experience on the bench than anyone currently serving on the [United States Supreme Court](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-heritage) had when they were appointed," said President Barack Obama at a recent press conference.
