# Topsy-Turvy Storage Systems The 'Some Order' Shelving Unit Has a Disorderly Disposition By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-05-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/some-order-shelving-unit References: [furnitureserved](http://www.furnitureserved.com/gallery/Some-order/4272301) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Some-order/4272301) It's common for designers to produce rather [rhythmic-looking storage systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/original-modern-shelving) that give assorted arrangements of possessions an overall look of logic and tidiness. The 'Some Order' Shelving Unit breaks this convention as a collection of cubbies that have been made as quite different shapes and sizes. Maxime Lapouille of Lille, France, presents this concept that comprises a bunch of four-sided [wooden storage boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunks-and-blocks). All of them have at least two parallel sides, but some of them contain no right angles at all. Similar slants, however, enable you to arrange the [miscellaneous modules into seamless combinations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumba) that assume a systematic appearance together. The 'Some Order' Shelving Unit can be set up against a wall or as a divider between two open concept areas. It can hold books, music, movies, electronics and so much more. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Disorderly Storage:** Designing storage systems that break the convention of tidiness and order presents disruption and uniqueness in home organization and decor. - **Seamless Storage Combinations:** Developing modular storage units that can be combined into seamless new shapes and appearances offers disruptive innovation opportunities for flexible and customizable storage solutions. - **Asymmetrical Boxes:** Creating asymmetrical storage boxes with non-right angle designs opens up disruption and innovation possibilities for unique designs while still fulfilling the functional purpose of storage solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Taking inspiration from the 'Some Order' Shelving Unit and designing unconventional furniture pieces can offer uniqueness and creative disruption to the furniture industry. - **Home Organization:** Incorporating disruptive storage solutions like the 'Some Order' Shelving Unit into current home organization methods can create unique and customized home organization solutions for consumers. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating 'Some Order' Shelving Units in interior designs to create a unique, unorthodox look can disrupt and fill an open niche in the interior design industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Customizable Storage Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelved-modular-furniture.md) - [Modular Organized Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unit-shelving-system.md) - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md) - [Modular Configuration Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repisa-01.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md) - [Flexible Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md)
