The intergalactic design of this truly bizarre [piece of seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair) was thought up by designer Alan Eagle. Four red velvet spheres make up a seat cushion, back and arm rests and double as the [planets that orbit the sun](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-collection). Want this wicked chair? Sorry, so does everyone else, because it's all sold out. **Implications** - The Solar System Chair is an absolutely brilliant concept that teaches kids the basics about the solar system while also serving the functional purpose of being a chair. I would love to own one of these for my home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Intergalactic Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing unique furniture inspired by the solar system to cater to customers looking for futuristic, decorative pieces. - **Functional Education:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating furniture that combines education and functionality, appealing to parents and educators who want interactive learning experiences in everyday objects. - **Limited Edition Collectibles:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Capitalizing on the demand for limited edition, unique furniture pieces that serve as collectibles and status symbols. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating imaginative designs inspired by celestial bodies to attract customers seeking unconventional furniture options. - **Education:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborating with designers to create educational furniture, merging aesthetics with interactive learning tools. - **Art and Collectibles:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Catering to the growing market of collectors by producing rare and exclusive furniture pieces inspired by popular themes like space and the solar system. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Otherworldly-Inspired Dynamic Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmos-chair.md) - [Space Travel-Inspired Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aerospace-seat-spn01.md) - [Intergalactic Gamer Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starfield-x-tempur-dream-chair.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Otherworldly Themed Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufo-rocking.md) - [Circular Modernist Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zerogravity-chair.md) - [Moon-Inspired Modular Seating Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wigiwama.md) - [Retro Outdoor High Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/high-armchair.md) - [Adaptable Ergonomic Office Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-moon-chair.md)
