Described as “part sculpture, part appliance,” Electree has been in development since 2008. After limited prototype production last year, the concept is now on Kickstarter.com looking for $200,000 in donations to get the project off the ground. This solar phone charger uses 27 amorphous silicon solar panels that can be moved toward the sun at anytime. The energy gathered from the sun is then stored in a [14,000mAh internal battery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-batterycharging-device). Without any constant sunlight, this battery can recharge an iPhone5 over nine times, a Galaxy S3 seven times, or an iPad2 twice. This solar phone charger also has the ability to [charge your devices wirelessly](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/picnic-uv). Although still in development, the Electree looks like a product we’ll be seeing more of in the future. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Solar Charging:** Opportunity for developing innovative solar charging technologies. - **Stylish Design:** Potential for merging technology and attractive design. - **Wireless Charging:** Growing trend in wireless charging capabilities for electronic devices. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Solar Energy:** Disruptive innovation opportunity in the solar energy industry with the development of advanced charging technologies. - **Consumer Electronics:** Opportunity for integrating stylish design and advanced charging capabilities into consumer electronics products. - **Green Technology:** Innovation potential within the green technology sector for creating environmentally friendly charging solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Garden-Inspired Smartphone Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-moonlit-desk-garden.md) - [Origami Travel Solar Panels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-panel-origami-technology.md) - [Solar-Powered Charging Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-mars-bot.md) - [Grid-Connected Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-electric-pavilion.md) - [Urban Solar Charging Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perovia.md) - [Device-Charging Sun Hats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecoflow-power-hat.md) - [Decorative Device Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tricharge-wireless-charger-concept.md) - [Solar-Powered Oral Care Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quip-solar-battery-charger.md) - [Portable Three-in-One Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chargetree-go.md)
