Plated in brass, backed with aged leather and with cursive parchment keys, the Sojourner is fully functional with any modern computer that accepts a [wired USB keyboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metal-keycaps). The Sojourner keyboard was designed by Richard "Datamancer" Nagy, a [steampunk artist, designer and maker](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edglrd-x-higround). The Sojouner keyboard is more than just a [functional consumer keyboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freewrite-wordrunner). It was used as a prop in the SyFy network's 'Warehouse 13' series. And if a steampunk keyboard is in a SyFy show, it definitely looks good. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Industrial Steampunk Design:** Companies can explore incorporating industrial steampunk elements into their product designs to create unique and visually appealing offerings. - **'mad Max' Inspired Keyboards:** Opportunities exist for creating keyboards that draw inspiration from the post-apocalyptic aesthetic of 'Mad Max' and cater to niche markets. - **Functional Prop Keyboards:** Designers can explore the potential of creating functional keyboards that can also be used as props in film, television, or theater productions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Consumer Electronics:** Consumer electronics companies can incorporate steampunk-inspired design elements into their product offerings, attracting customers seeking unique and nostalgic pieces. - **Entertainment:** Entertainment production companies can explore partnerships with steampunk artists and designers to create props that enhance the visual and narrative elements of their projects. - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can leverage the popularity of steampunk aesthetics to create functional artworks that appeal to both collectors and steampunk enthusiasts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi Film-Inspired Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-expression-series-mechtropolis-keyboard.md) - [Retro Futurist Keyboard Replicas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mdr-dasher-keyboard.md) - [Timeless Typewriter Keyboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timeless-typewriter-keyboard-design.md) - [Metallic Brutalist Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-keyboard.md) - [Incredibly Elegant Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elegant-keyboard.md) - [Nostalgic 90s Keyboard Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/class-1800-mechanical-keyboard.md) - [Advanced Antiquated Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/azio-mkretro-typewriterstyle-mechanical-keyboard.md) - [DJ-Inspired Mechanical Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cyberboard-r2-le-smoking.md) - [NYC Skyscraper-Inspired Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/icebreaker-keyboard.md)
