# Light-Beaming Daggers The SOG Bladelight Knife is Handy in the Darkest Places By Kevin Young | Published 2012-05-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sog-bladelight-knife References: [uncrate](http://uncrate.com/stuff/sog-bladelight-knife/) & [sogknives](http://sogknives.com/store/BLT50-N.html) The SOG Bladelight Knife is an essential tool to use when the sun isn't shining. Attempting to use a pocket knife in the dark will do you no good unless you're wearing night vision goggles but let's face it, most of us don't carry army gear on an everyday basis. This state-of-the-art [switch blade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a7-zastava) is equipped with [six LED lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sk05-pro-blue-led) on either side of its grip-plastered handle that'll enable users to have a clear view as to what they're swiping at. It's waterproof so even underwater usage is plausible. Heck, the SOG Bladelight Knife can even allow fishers to fetch a midnight snack during night time camping trips. The light can be turned on or off, acting as a flashlight alone or just a pocket knife. It's priced at $85 and will be a handy tool for activities that occur in the dark. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Light-beaming Daggers:** The trend of incorporating LED lights into everyday tools like knives to improve visibility in low-light situations. - **Multi-purpose Flashlight Knives:** The trend of creating tools that serve multiple functions, such as combining a flashlight and a pocket knife into one device. - **Waterproof Illumination Tools:** The trend of developing waterproof tools with built-in lighting features for use in various outdoor activities. ### Where This Applies - **Outdoor Equipment:** Opportunity for outdoor equipment manufacturers to incorporate LED lights into their products to enhance functionality and safety in low-light conditions. - **Camping and Fishing:** Opportunity for camping and fishing gear companies to create multi-purpose tools that integrate flashlight and knife functionalities for convenience during outdoor adventures. - **Safety and Defense:** Opportunity for companies in the safety and defense industry to design waterproof tools with lighting capabilities for use in emergency situations or tactical operations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Intuitive Safety Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leatherman-blazer.md) - [Titanium Tactical Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/serpblade.md) - [Folding Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oknife.md) - [Chromatic Aluminum Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wesn-x-glidr-microblade.md) - [Featherlight EDC Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/b2-nano-blade.md) - [Convenient Multi-Purpose Flashlights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dark-fade.md) - [Dynamic Movement Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craighill-sidewinder-knife.md) - [Celebratory Pocket Knife Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gerber-savvy-back-on-black.md) - [Money Clip-Equipped EDC Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microtech-exocet-dagger.md)
