It definitely has a soft presence thanks to its rounded surface shape and colorful support legs. Initially inspired by a bundle of sticks, this design took on a life of its own in a subtle and sophisticated way. Created by Northern California-based interior designer Curtis Popp, the Soft Side Table is his [first venture into furniture design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table). The first piece of a larger Soft Collection, it sets a [whimsical and refined tone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table) that will surely be appreciated by individuals in all walks of life. I can especially see the Soft Side Table fitting in a family home or a creative work space. Each Soft Side Table is made to order by hand locally in Sacramento. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Whimsical Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate playful and colorful design elements into traditional furniture to create unique and eye-catching pieces. - **Rounded Surface Shape:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore furniture designs with soft and rounded surfaces for a visually appealing and comforting aesthetic. - **Local Handmade Products:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embrace the demand for locally made, artisanal furniture that adds a personal touch and supports local economies. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with talented designers to create furniture collections that combine whimsy and sophistication. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop home decor brands that focus on unique, handmade pieces like the Soft Side Table to cater to the growing consumer desire for personalized and distinct interior design. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Invest in local production and customization capabilities to offer handmade furniture options that meet the demand for quality craftsmanship and unique designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Curvaceous Abstract Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-table.md) - [Fabric-Like Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablecloth-side-table.md) - [Puzzling Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linked-side-table.md) - [Slender Geometric Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tong-side-table.md) - [Colorful Contemporary Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-tables.md) - [Versatile Curvaceous Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/proust.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md) - [Asymmetrical Industrial Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mura-side-table.md) - [Extravagant Handcrafted Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handcrafted-furniture.md)
