As a curious journalist, I had to know what all the buzz was about, and if you're a parent, you'll want to know about snurf pills too. Next time you ask your computer savvy teen what they're up to and they answer, "just surfing," ensure you heard right. It turns out, snurf pills are herbal drugs said to induce ecstasy-like feelings of euphoria and are becoming very popular among high school students. How safe these "herbal" snurf pills are is the question all parents out there want to know. "Four teens from [Council Rock High School](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voter-campaign) near Philadelphia have been hospitalized for possible overdoses, according to the [Fox](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toddler-of-the-year) affiliate in Philadelphia," [Associated Content](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hello-world-by-best-choice) says. "Snurf pills are available on the Internet through herbal dealers, though it really consists of pure dextromethophan, a.k.a DXM. This is an element in many cough syrups, as DXM can become an hallucinogen if taken in large doses." The scariest part is that teens have easy access to snurf pills as they can be bought online, and that's the root of the controversy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Youth](https://www.trendhunter.com/youth) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Teen Drug Abuse:** Leveraging technology to monitor and prevent teen access to dangerous substances. - **Online Drug Market:** Developing secure platforms and technologies to identify and shut down illegal drug sales online. - **Ecstasy Alternatives:** Exploring and promoting safe and legal alternatives to ecstasy to address the demand among young users. ### Who This Affects Most - **Digital Health:** Implementing telehealth solutions for early intervention and treatment of teen drug abuse. - **E-commerce:** Building robust systems to detect and prevent the sale of illegal drugs on online platforms. - **Health and Wellness:** Creating and marketing natural and legal substances that offer similar effects to illicit drugs for recreational use. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Drug-Detecting Drink Strips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/greenlane.md) - [THC-Infused Snack Rings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snazzle-os.md) - [Non-Addictive Oral Pouches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nonaddictive-pouch.md) - [Private Label Overdose Sprays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/naloxone-hcl-nasal-spray.md) - [Mobile Harm Reduction Initiatives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobile-harm-reduction.md) - [Convenient Drug-Testing Strips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fentanyl-test-kit.md) - [AI-Altering Digital Marketplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pharmaicy.md) - [Medication Availability Finders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neuro-tablet.md) - [Dissolvable THC Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thc-tablets.md)
