# Curling Wave Washbasins This Snowbound Pottery Custom Sink Mimics the Crashing Crests of the Ocean By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-02-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowbound-pottery-custom-sink References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2014/02/Hand-Built-Ceramic-Sink.html) & [snowboundpottery](http://www.snowboundpottery.com/custom-sink/) This Snowbound Pottery custom sink differs greatly from the typical washbasins that you will have seen in catalogs and home fixture showrooms. Unlike them, this bathroom bowl does not embody the symmetry and the smoothness that are often sought after to express cleanliness and serenity of form. Interestingly, while Anna Kasabian's design is remarkably irregular in shape and in texture, the piece does not exude the disorderly impression that you might expect from its description. Made from porcelain, the artist seems to have begun with a flat piece of material before splitting and folding the edges into delicate curls of different depths and dimensions. Consequently, the bumpy-textured Snowbound Pottery custom sink comes to reference the beautiful organic forms of white-capped ocean waves and parched flower petals. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Irregular Washbasins:** Opportunity for designers to create unique and unconventional washbasins that challenge traditional notions of cleanliness and serenity. - **Organic-inspired Designs:** Chance for artists to incorporate organic forms, such as ocean waves and flower petals, into their creations for a more natural and visually appealing aesthetic. - **Textured Bathroom Fixtures:** Potential to introduce textured surfaces in bathroom fixtures that add depth and visual interest to the space. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor companies to offer customers unconventional washbasin options to create unique and personalized bathroom spaces. - **Interior Design:** Chance for interior designers to incorporate organic-inspired designs, like wave shapes and flower petal textures, into the overall aesthetic of a bathroom. - **Ceramics Manufacturing:** Potential for ceramics manufacturers to develop new techniques and materials to create textured bathroom fixtures that mimic natural elements like waves and flowers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Textural Bathroom Sink Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/washbasin-collection.md) - [Playful Concrete Wash Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kast-wave-collection.md) - [Angular Ceramic Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/angle-washbasin.md) - [Sculptural 3D-Printed Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-printed-sink.md) - [Water Flow-Inspired Kiln Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-collection.md) - [Dynamic Marble Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinito.md) - [Artful Artisanal Marble Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handchiseled-marble-basin.md) - [Marble Slab Washbasins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piano-washbasin.md) - [Electric Kiln-Made Unique Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-1.md)
