# Retiree Trailer Park Editorials 'Snowbirds' Captures a Florida Retirement Community By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-08-28 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowbirds References: [featureshoot](http://www.featureshoot.com/2014/08/photos-of-a-florida-trailer-park-home-to-retired-couples-from-quebec/) & [mikagoodfriend](http://www.mikagoodfriend.com/) For his latest series 'Snowbirds,' Montreal-based photographer Mika Goodfriend traveled to Breezy Hill, a trailer park located near Florida's Pompano Beach. Most notably, Breezy Hill is home to a community of [retired couples](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-senior-shelter), 98% of whom hail from Quebec. Needless to say, the trailer park is an interesting environment, one that combines a typical American aesthetic with French-Canadian savvy. Located two miles from the ocean, the trailer park almost functions as its own autonomous province, offering its residents a life of leisure and comfort. The park maintains a special, close-knit ambiance that residents cherish; so much so, that they choose Breezy Hill over many ocean-front properties. Goodfriend expertly captures the unusual, memorable and welcoming community in the series. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Seniors](https://www.trendhunter.com/seniors) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Retirement Communities:** Opportunity to disrupt traditional retirement living by creating innovative and inclusive communities for retirees. - **Cultural Fusion:** Potential to create cultural fusion in retirement communities by incorporating diverse influences and traditions. - **Photography as Documentation:** Emerging trend of using photography to document unique communities and lifestyles, providing a glimpse into hidden worlds. ### Where This Applies - **Real Estate:** Innovative real estate developers can seize the opportunity to design and build retirement communities that cater to the specific needs and desires of retirees. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** By offering unique and culturally diverse retirement experiences, companies in the tourism and hospitality industry can attract a growing segment of adventurous retirees. - **Art and Photography:** Photographers and artists can explore documenting and showcasing diverse communities and lifestyles, providing a new perspective on the retirement experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Boomer-Targeted Luxury Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palm-lake-resort-yamba-cove.md) - [Retiree Influencer Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retirement-house.md) - [Waterside Retreat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bora-boral.md) - [Early Retirement Communities](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cantinas.md) - [Striking Urban Wildlife Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clare-allin.md) - [Transforming Beach-Ready Camping Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hobby-beachy-420.md) - [Beach-Themed Mobile Tourist Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wasaga-beach.md) - [Compact Beach Resort Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siesta-key.md) - [Personal Nostalgic Photo Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holy-ohio.md)
