# Frost-Inspired Lighting The Snow Form Lamp by Young Kwang Cho is Softly Sculptural By Meghan Young | Published 2012-06-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snow-form-lamp References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/06/06/winter-inspired-lamp/) & [youngkwangcho](http://www.youngkwangcho.com/) The Snow Form Lamp is as stunning and sweet as a fresh bed of snow on Christmas morning. As its name gives away, the table light was inspired by the formation of snow over time. As the wind sculpts its frosty surface, snow can become like a work of art, which is captured it the shape of the Snow Form Lamp. Designed by multi-disciplinary designer Young Kwang Cho who works and lives in California, the Snow Form Lamp "has a soft, fluid aesthetic with gentle curves and sweeping lines," as [Yanko Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) beautifully describes. Functioning on a hinge, the light fixture simply needs to be pushed downward to be turned on. It emits a [romantic glow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wake-sleep-light). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 26% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Softly Sculptural Lighting:** Opportunity for creating lighting fixtures with gentle curves and sweeping lines, inspired by natural formations like snow. - **Fluid Aesthetics:** Opportunity for designing products with a soft and fluid aesthetic, embracing organic shapes and flowing lines. - **Interactive Light Fixtures:** Opportunity for creating light fixtures with intuitive interaction, such as a hinge mechanism for easy on/off functionality. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate softly sculptural lighting into their projects, enhancing the overall aesthetic of spaces. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor companies to offer fluid and sculptural lighting options, catering to consumers who value unique and artistic designs. - **Product Design:** Opportunity for product designers to explore interactive light fixtures, creating innovative and user-friendly lighting solutions for various applications. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Snowfall-Inspired Sofa Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowhouse-sofa.md) - [Sculptural Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuloa.md) - [Serene Wooden Dynamic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-wood.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md) - [Soft Comfort Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-lamp.md) - [Colorful 3D-Printed Portable Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-soft-serve-lamp.md) - [Silkworm-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting.md) - [Organic Cloud-Like Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/khmara.md)
