# Malleable Ski Caps The Snow Foldable Helmet is Designed to Fit Any Head By Michael Hines | Published 2014-01-03 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snow-foldable-helmet References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/carrera-snow-foldable-helmet/30248/) & [carreraworld](http://carreraworld.com/en/editorials/snow-foldable-helmet/) The Snow Foldable Helmet from Carrera is a lot like the foldable bike helmet the company released last year. However, unlike the bike helmet, this ski helmet doesn’t take the shape of an accordion. Instead, it features a stationary midsection with two sides that can pull out to accommodate heads of varying sizes. The sides can be pulled independently, meaning that those who have uniquely shaped heads won’t have to worry about the helmet fitting everyone but them. In addition to taking up less space (Carrera says the helmet shrinks 20 percent in size when fully compressed) and fitting a variety of heads, the Snow Foldable Helmet also sports improved ventilation and ear pads that are both removable and machine washable. Carrera’s flexible skiing helmet comes in five different colors and information pricing and availability have not yet been released. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Foldable Helmet:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the development of foldable helmets for various sports and outdoor activities to provide compact and customizable protective gear. - **Malleable Headgear:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Investigate the creation of malleable headgear that can adjust its shape to fit a wide range of head sizes and shapes, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit. - **Removable and Washable Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop removable and washable accessories for sports helmets, such as ear pads, to improve hygiene and convenience for users. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Sporting Goods:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate flexible and adjustable features into sporting goods, including helmets, to enhance user experience and safety. - **Outdoor Gear:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce adaptable and space-saving outdoor gear, like foldable helmets, that cater to different head sizes and offer improved convenience for travelers and adventurers. - **Personal Protective Equipment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Enhance the design and functionality of personal protective equipment, such as helmets, by incorporating malleable and washable components to offer better hygiene and customized fit. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Flatpack Cyclist Safety Equipment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-helmet-concept.md) - [Origami-Style Cyclist Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raba-helmet.md) - [Foldable Air Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ventete-ah1.md) - [Collapsible Space-Saving Cyclist Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipclip-go-helmet.md) - [Interchangeable Component Sport Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-helmet.md) - [Foldable Light-Integrated Bike Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fend-super-bike-helmet.md) - [Slope-Ready Winter Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beanie-helmet.md) - [Folding Smart Helmet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-helmets.md) - [Self-Inflating Bicycle Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bumpair-20.md)
