The mobile messaging app was designed to allow users to send [temporary photos, message, and videos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/midnight-disappearing-chats). After a certain amount of time, these messages would disappear. Even though the Snaps occurred in the past, users can edit, combine and share their Memories. Unlike regular camera galleries, users can search for photos using key words which reduces the need for having to scan through the entire collection. A frame will be placed around shared Memories to indicate to viewers that the Snap is from the past. There is also a privacy feature that will be added called '[My Eyes Only](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/memory)'. This section will be placed within 'My Memories' and will only allow access with a password. Bare in mind, the password is unrecoverable once you forget it. Snapchat plans to selectively roll out the new feature over the next month. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Social Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/socialmedia) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Mobile Messaging Memory Features:** Develop mobile messaging applications with searchable, editable and shareable media content features. - **Key-word Based Media Search:** Introduce key-word search functionality to photo galleries and applications. - **Secure Media Storage:** Include a secure and password-protected media storage section within applications. ### Where This Applies - **Mobile App Development:** Develop new mobile applications and features with searchable, editable and secure media-sharing functionalities. - **Social Media Platforms:** Enhance social media platforms with key-word media search features and additional secure storage options. - **Data Security:** Create data protection and storage solutions for mobile and social media applications with sensitive media content. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Social Sharing Upgrades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/after-dark-1.md) - [Photo-Based Messenger Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapstreak-restore.md) - [Web-Based Image Messaging Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapchat-4.md) - [AI-Generated Image Backgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapchat-6.md) - [Arrival Notification Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arrival-notifications.md) - [Web-Based Snapchat Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapchat-for-web.md) - [Parent-Focused Social Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/family-center-1.md) - [AR-Enabled Snapchat NFTs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapchat-3.md) - [Location-Based Social App Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapchat-home-safe.md)
