Using data from the 'Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory' and a live stream on the day of the eclipse from [NASA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunsketcher), users have access to all the resources necessary for a safe and complete viewing experience. The SAO has been conducting solar research since 1890, including data collection on solar radiation and the solar constant. Its telescopes and instruments send back high resolution images of the Sun to help study its features, solar weather and solar atmosphere is energized. For the event, the Smithsonian solar eclipse app will include resources like a [safety guide](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uv-guardian), interactive eclipse map, an eclipse live stream and [eclipse countdown](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/event-countdown). Users can also track the shadow of the moon and simulate the eclipse from any location on Earth. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Interactive Eclipse Guides:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced augmented reality features to enhance the interactive eclipse experience. - **Live Streaming Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create streaming platforms with real-time data for educational and interactive events. - **Mobile Apps for Natural Phenomena:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design user-friendly apps that provide comprehensive information and interactive experiences for natural phenomena. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Education Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate cutting-edge tech to revolutionize learning experiences and provide interactive educational resources. - **Space and Astronomy:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced instruments, telescopes, and data collection methods for studying celestial bodies and phenomena. - **Tourism and Travel:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create immersive travel experiences by leveraging augmented reality and interactive apps to provide real-time information on natural phenomena. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Community-Based Eclipse Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2024-eclipse.md) - [Eclipse-Capturing Smartphone Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunsketcher.md) - [AR Space Agency Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ar-nasa-app.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Eclipse Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-eclipse-poster.md) - [AR Astronomy Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-gate.md) - [Eyewear Eclipse Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warby-parker-solar-eclipse.md) - [Solar Eclipse Voyages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2026-cruise-voyages.md) - [Space Exploration Streaming Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nasa-streaming-service.md) - [Location-Based UV Tracker Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sun-day-app.md)
