The product is characterized by its 1950s aesthetic that draws inspiration from SMEG's appliances that are often chunky, pastel-hued and toy-like given their inherently retro form. The baby monitor will thus disappear on a shelf amongst other child's decor or toys, while providing parents with a way to stay connected with their little one during nap time or at night. The conceptual SMEG baby monitor is targeted towards upper and upper-middle class parents in North America and Western Europe, and features all essential components required. This includes an SD card slot for storage, a charging port, control buttons and more. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 21% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Retro-modern Baby Monitors:** The conceptual SMEG baby monitor combines a retro 1950s aesthetic with modern functionality, appealing to parents who want a stylish and functional monitoring device. - **Incorporating Style in Baby Monitoring:** The SMEG baby monitor allows parents to add a touch of retro style to their decor while keeping an eye on their infants, catering to those who value both functionality and aesthetics. - **Discreet Baby Monitoring:** Designed to blend in with other child's decor or toys, the SMEG baby monitor offers a discreet way for parents to stay connected with their little one during nap time or at night. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Baby Products:** The retro-modern baby monitor trend opens up opportunities for innovation in the baby products industry, appealing to style-conscious parents. - **Home Decor:** The incorporation of style in baby monitoring presents innovation opportunities in the home decor industry, where parents can add functional and aesthetic elements to their nurseries. - **Consumer Electronics:** The development of retro-themed baby monitors introduces disruptive innovation opportunities in the consumer electronics industry, combining nostalgic design with modern technology. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Advanced Baby Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/premium-connected-baby-monitor.md) - [Illuminating Camera Baby Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chillax-baby-mood-pro.md) - [Nursery-Friendly Air Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airo-air-purifier.md) - [Modern Baby Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ainanny-baby-monitor.md) - [Smart AI Baby Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simshine.md) - [50s-Style Countertop Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smeg-toaster.md) - [Home Security Baby Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baby-monitor-and-doorbell.md) - [AI-Powered Baby Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chillax.md) - [Smart Video Baby Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leapfrog-baby-monitors.md)
