# Multi-Angle Camera Apps Switchapp Lets Auteurs Connect Smartphone Cameras for Multiple Angles By Andrew Sztein | Published 2013-02-25 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartphone-cameras References: [mashable](http://mashable.com/2013/02/25/switchcam-director) & [make.switchcam](http://make.switchcam.com/tour/) It seems like everyone these days is a budding film auteur with all these smartphone cameras constantly rolling all the time. While the quality of smartphone cameras has increased exponentially in the last few years, they still don't do multi-angle shooting very effectively. Enter the Switchapp. This neat little app allows users to network cameras together to create shooting from [multiple angles with multiple cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multilevel). Viewers can even link the different [YouTube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emeet-streamcam-one) clips from the different angles to choose their own preferred angle on the fly. I think this app is something that a sports broadcast could really benefit from. The crowdsourcing doesn't end there. A Switchapp user can geotag a shoot and people can sign up to be part of the crew, or even follow the event live from their choice of camera angle. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Multi-angle Camera Apps:** Switchapp allows users to connect smartphone cameras for multi-angle shooting, creating opportunities for immersive video experiences. - **Crowdsourced Camera Crews:** Switchapp's geotagging feature enables users to crowdsource camera crews and offer diverse camera angles for live events, disrupting traditional event coverage. - **Interactive Video Viewing:** With Switchapp allowing viewers to choose their preferred camera angle while watching videos, there is potential to revolutionize sports broadcasting and other video content. ### Where This Applies - **Mobile App Development:** Switchapp's multi-angle camera feature presents an opportunity for mobile app developers to create innovative camera apps with enhanced shooting capabilities. - **Event Production:** The crowd-sourced camera crews enabled by Switchapp can disrupt the event production industry by offering different camera angles and perspectives for live events. - **Broadcasting:** Switchapp's interactive video viewing capabilities have the potential to disrupt the broadcasting industry by allowing viewers to personalize their camera angles during live broadcasts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Proprietary Smartphone Camera Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/final-cut-camera-app.md) - [Pro-Grade Smartphone Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchlens.md) - [Multitrack Mobile Recording Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobile-recording-app.md) - [Consolidated Live-Streaming Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camera-set.md) - [Cinematic Video Streaming Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/detail-app.md) - [Multi-Camera Live Streaming](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/logitech-3.md) - [Content Creation Smartphone Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobile-creator-gear.md) - [Multi-Lens Capture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-walker-multi-cam.md) - [Time-Lapse Content Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timelapse-content.md)
