The tremors caused by the disease often result in countless injuries and falls. This device aims to make life a little easier for people living with Parkinson's. Working in unison with a smartphone app, the [vibrating, solar-powered belt uses sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wearable-sensor1) to guide patients into more comfortable positions. The customizable app is specifically tailored to each individual, offering unique balancing exercises that help people move and tilt their body without exceeding their individual limits. The vibrations felt through the belt help patients stand stronger and fight against tremors. Researchers are hopeful that the implementation of the Smarter Balance System will be linked to more stability in the lives of patients, and subsequently, less accidents and injuries. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 26% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Science](https://www.trendhunter.com/science) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Tech-infused Stabilizing Belts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced sensor technology and customizable smartphone apps to create more effective and personalized stabilizing belts for Parkinson's patients. - **Vibrating Solar-powered Belts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the integration of solar-powered technology with vibrating belts for enhanced comfort and mobility assistance for people with Parkinson's disease. - **Customizable Smartphone Apps for Parkinson's Patients:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design and develop smartphone apps that provide tailor-made balancing exercises and personalized guidance to improve the quality of life for individuals living with Parkinson's. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Healthcare Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine wearable technology, sensor technology, and mobile apps to revolutionize the healthcare industry and improve the lives of Parkinson's patients. - **Assistive Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate advanced sensor technology and vibrating belts to create innovative assistive devices that enhance mobility and stability for individuals with Parkinson's disease. - **Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Leverage technology to develop new methods and tools for rehabilitation and physical therapy that help individuals with Parkinson's disease regain and maintain their balance and mobility. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tremor Therapy Wearables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cala-kiq.md) - [Stroke Recovery Wearable Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-earpiece.md) - [Symptom-Reducing Chest Wearables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cue1.md) - [Mobility-Boosting Cane Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextstride.md) - [Innovative Rehabilitation Sensor Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rehabilitation-sensor-system.md) - [Tic-Tackling Wrist Wearables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tourettes-wrist-wearable.md) - [Belt-Based Wearable Sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vital-belt.md) - [Wearable Robotic Medical Technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/als-medical-technology.md) - [Stride-Assisting Wearables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evolve-mvmt.md)
