Russian inventors have come up with a handy solution -- a suitcase that follows you! "The case responds to an electronic card in its owner's pocket and has infra-red and ultrasound sensors, which warn it of approaching obstacles," Russia Today said. "The 'intelligent' suitcase also boasts a soft bumper and a headlight." There have been little details reveiled, such as how users prevent the $2,000 [suitcase from being stolen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knog-scout-travel). If you're wandering around the airport, dashing to your gate, carrying the above mentioned items, how do you ensure your suitcase isn't snatched up by someone else? All I envision is a major international airport with [unmanned suitcases zipping around](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ewagon) everywhere as frenzied passengers are bowled over by the them. A 30 lb bag slamming into your heel, hurtling at the back of your knee, or completely knocking out a toddler just doesn't sound safe. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Smart Luggage:** The trend of using smart luggage that follows the owner is a disruptive innovation opportunity for the travel industry as it can make the airport experience more convenient and hassle-free. - **Connected Devices:** The trend of connected devices like the smart suitcase can revolutionize the luggage industry by offering customers benefits of convenience, security and control. - **Robotics in Travel:** The trend of integrating robotics in travel like smart luggage that follows its owner is a disruptive innovation opportunity and could redefine the way travelers experience and perceive travel. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Travel and Tourism:** The travel and tourism industry could benefit from using smart luggage that follows its owner as it can offer the convenience of hands-free travel to the customer, thus enhancing the customer experience. - **Luggage Manufacturing:** The luggage manufacturing industry can innovate and create smart luggage with sensors, cameras, and other features to make the travel experience for customers more convenient, secure, and enjoyable. - **Robotic Manufacturing:** The robotic manufacturing industry can revolutionize the travel industry by automating the process of making smart luggage, thus reducing costs and increasing efficiency. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [See-Through Ride-On Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airwheel-suitcase.md) - [Trackable Smart Luggage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casesafe.md) - [Tech-Equipped Suitcase Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oogo-smart-luggage.md) - [Discreet Trackable Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qantas-x-july.md) - [Rideable Carry-On Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modobag-20.md) - [Stroller-Equipped Suitcase Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easy-journey-suitcase.md) - [Stroller-Equipped Suitcase Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easy-journey-travel-case.md) - [Hoverboard-Luggage Design Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trunk-car.md) - [Luggage Tracking Safety Technologies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-luggage-tracker.md)
