From award-winning technology design firm Artefact, the PizzaTime clock is also beautifully designed for your desktop -- making it perfect for esthetic-conscious lazy people. The pretty wooden box has a knob that you simply twist to pick flavors and press to order. It also shows you, in real-time, the current status of your pizza and will act as a timer when it's on its way. The working model was created using Domino's API, the Edison platform and Intel low-power microprocessor packages. Described by Artefact as an application of the "Internet of (Fun) Things," the smart clock is "not only utilitarian, but also delightful." PizzaTime was created as part of Intel's Internet of Things roadshow, a highly anticipated hackathon coming up. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Smart Clocks:** The development of smart clocks that can perform multiple functions, such as ordering food and providing real-time updates, presents opportunities for disruptive innovation in home automation and convenience technology. - **Internet of Things (iot):** The integration of IoT technology, such as Domino's API and Intel low-power microprocessor packages, into everyday objects like the PizzaTime clock opens up possibilities for disruptive innovation in various industries, including food delivery and consumer electronics. - **Iot Hackathons:** The rise of IoT hackathons, such as Intel's Internet of Things roadshow, provides a platform for innovative thinkers to come together and create disruptive solutions that combine technology and everyday products or services. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Automation:** The PizzaTime smart clock demonstrates the potential for disruptive innovation in the home automation industry by integrating food ordering capabilities and real-time updates into a stylish desktop clock. - **Food Delivery:** The development of IoT-enabled devices like the PizzaTime clock suggests disruptive innovation opportunities within the food delivery industry, as it allows for seamless ordering, tracking, and personalized experiences for customers. - **Consumer Electronics:** The incorporation of IoT technology into consumer electronics, as seen in the PizzaTime clock, presents opportunities for disruptive innovation in the consumer electronics industry, offering customers more functional and integrated products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Automated Fresh Pizza Kiosks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fresh-pizza-kiosk.md) - [Connected Simplicity-Focused Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-rubiks-cube-clock.md) - [Printed Fortune Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/houracle.md) - [Pixelated Flip-Style Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miniot-klapklok.md) - [Nostalgic 3D-Printed Arcade Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arcade-clock.md) - [Digital Personality Alarm Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alarm-oclock.md) - [Branded Automated Pizza Kiosks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digiorno-pizza-vending-machine.md) - [Celestially Inspired Desk Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/astral-desk-clock.md) - [AI-Powered Pizza Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pizza-robot.md)
