This smart apartment makes use of four boxes, each of which serves different functions such as sleeping, entertaining, cooking and bathroom use. Each box features all the amenities required to carry out that particular task, while a variety of [space-saving designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boxed-collection) are incorporated, such as the elevation of the sleeping box and the rotation of each box by 10 degrees in order to encourage airflow. With Asian mega-cities offering very little space for apartment-dwellers, the likes of TOWOdesign prove that smart apartments are a great way to enjoy city-dwelling in spaces that aren't expansive. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Smart Apartments:** The trend of smart apartments allows for efficient use of limited space in crowded cities like Shanghai. - **Function Boxes:** Utilizing function boxes in apartment design provides customized spaces for specific activities while maximizing space. - **Space-saving Designs:** Incorporating space-saving designs in apartments enables efficient arrangement of living spaces in compact environments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Architectural firms can explore innovative ways to design compact living spaces in crowded urban areas using smart apartment and space-saving design concepts. - **Real Estate:** Real estate developers can embrace the trend of smart apartments to cater to the increasing demand for efficient and functional living spaces in densely populated cities. - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals can create customized solutions for function boxes within smart apartments, optimizing the space availability for different activities while maintaining aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smartly Designed Compact Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-apartments2.md) - [Cleverly Designed Micro Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabanon.md) - [Reimagined Minimal Parisian Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-cocoon.md) - [Thoughtful Micro Studio Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-studio-apartment.md) - [Japanese Inn-Inspired Micro Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-tarta-piccola.md) - [Apartment-Inspired Drawer Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apt-drawers.md) - [Reinvented Compact Living](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/affordable-housing-prototype.md) - [Redesigned Curved Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taichung-apartment.md) - [Singular Person Foldable Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-baby-box.md)
