Designed by James George and Alexander Porter, the mirror fits on to any [iPhone 4](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iphone-4-concept) or 5 device and acts as a periscope, similar to designs employed by submarines. Instead of having to peer straight ahead and lift your camera together, however, the SlyPhone Camera Periscope is intended to "reverse our culture of surveillance" and turn every person with a phone into a documentarian. Priced at $19, the periscope fits over the [front facing camera](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundcam-go) and reflects a picture of what's in front without you having to make direct eye contact with the subject. As such, the Slyphone Camera Periscope is intended for a tool of "social critique," while letting you return to your game of Candy Crush quickly should the subject notice anything fishy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Stealthy Snapshot Cameras:** The SlyPhone Camera Periscope offers a discreet way to capture photos without being noticed. - **Reverse Culture of Surveillance:** The periscope aims to shift the norms of surveillance and empower individuals to document their surroundings. - **Inconspicuous Mobile Photography:** The periscope attachment allows users to take pictures without having to make direct eye contact with the subject. ### Where This Applies - **Mobile Accessories:** The periscope attachment provides a unique accessory for smartphone users. - **Photography Equipment:** The periscope offers a new tool for photographers looking for discreet photography options. - **Personal Security:** The periscope addresses privacy concerns and offers a solution for individuals who want to take photos unnoticed. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Aquatic Smartphone Photography Domes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartphone-mobile-mini-dome.md) - [Elongated Smartphone Photography Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandmarc-probe-lens.md) - [Subtle Secondary Display Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sphone-concept.md) - [Smartphone Gimbal Attachments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snappy-mobile.md) - [Smartphone Dual Screen Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selfix.md) - [Magnetic Snap-On Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapgrip.md) - [Foldable Structural Security Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psync-genie-s.md) - [Photography-Centric Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ax-phone.md) - [Pro-Grade Smartphone Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchlens.md)
