# Hideaway Bike Racks The Slit Bike Rack Is a Perfect Addtion to Minimalist Homes By Thomas Wade-West | Published 2013-09-26 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slit-bike-rack References: [mikili.de](http://mikili.de/en/products/slit-en/slit-black/) The Slit Bike Rack includes the same features as most other [hanging racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velto) available, but allows users to fold the device inward to provide a given area with more space to work with. The mechanism is unfolded to accommodate your bicycle, but when closed, allows for a [discreet flat space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf) with the outer wall itself. The Slit also comes with a felt strap that is used to secure the front wheel of your bicycle when mounting it. When your bicycle is mounted, it lays securely on a felt overlay which guarantees your bike will be both [secure and left unscratched](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cargomate-bike-rack). The Slit bike rack designed by Mikili is available online via the Mikili website, and is ideal for bike owners that are tight on storage space or would prefer a much neater option for hanging their bikes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Foldable Bike Racks:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a foldable bike rack that can be easily stored in small spaces while providing secure storage for bicycles. - **Minimalist Home Storage Solutions:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create sleek and discreet storage options for minimalist homeowners that blend seamlessly into their living spaces. - **Space-saving Bicycle Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Invent compact and versatile accessories that optimize storage and organization for bicycles in limited spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate bike storage solutions into furniture designs, allowing dual functionality and space optimization. - **Home Organization Products:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative storage products that cater to the needs of minimalist homeowners, providing efficient and stylish solutions. - **Urban Mobility:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore innovative ways to enhance urban mobility by creating space-efficient solutions for bike storage in dense living environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Foldable Flatpack Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ahha-toaster-bike-rack.md) - [Horizontal Automotive Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ktop-bike-rack.md) - [Tri-Functional Bicycle Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trifunctional-bicycle-rack.md) - [Compact Cyclist Car Mounts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbull-rack.md) - [Stylish Space-Saving Exercise Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/theo-exercise-bike.md) - [Modular Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonder-x-skarper.md) - [Tubular Metallic Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cargomate-bike-rack.md) - [Hidden Seat Bike Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lockinvisible.md) - [Envelope-Style Shoe Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shoe-storage-rack.md)
