The green cuff-like device is placed over a stair railing and pushed along while walking. Once powered, arrowhead-shaped areas on the Slide energy generator light up to provide [illumination during a power outage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timeli-flashlight) or other emergency situation. **Implications** - Natural disasters are inevitable and there is a large market surrounding the concept of [disaster prevention and relief](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crankspeaker). While a light-up hand railing may seem simplistic in design and concept (it is), for those trapped in home blanketed in darkness after a violent storm or following tsunami, this device could really provide some comfort for those who need it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Disaster Prevention:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced products and technologies that provide relief during natural disasters. - **Emergency Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Invent novel lighting systems that can be easily activated during power outages or emergencies. - **Kinetic Energy Generators:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create sustainable energy solutions that harness kinetic energy from everyday activities. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Safety and Security:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate smart technologies to enhance disaster prevention and relief measures. - **Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative lighting solutions for various applications, including emergency scenarios. - **Renewable Energy:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new methods to capture and utilize kinetic energy for sustainable power generation. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sustainable Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geolectric-lantern.md) - [Portable Energy Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-energy-generator.md) - [Mood-Setting Adventurous Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guidelight.md) - [Regenerative Cycling Equipment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/energy-keeper.md) - [Saltwater-Powered Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/litepulse-ecolantern.md) - [Emergency Evacuation Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-strix.md) - [Wireless Solar-Powered Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarpowered-lights.md) - [Illuminating Functional Power Banks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonside.md) - [Collapsible Solar-Powered Energy Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-energy-storage-power-supply.md)
