# Salvaged Slide Chairs Evan Dublin Turns a Playground Staple Into Furniture By Rose Nazarali | Published 2009-05-20 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slide-chairs-evan-dublin References: [inhabitots](http://www.inhabitots.com/2009/05/19/chair-made-from-a-slide/) & [evandublin](http://www.evandublin.com/index.php?/project/slide-chair/) Evan Dublin went searching through a salvage yard in NYC when he found his perfect furniture material--a broken-down slide--and created the Slide Chair. Inspired by the fun and giddiness of a child sliding down that spiraling tube, Evan Dublin wanted to portray those same components in a useful, modern chair. The Slide Chair is perfect for that kid who never wants to leave the playground and makes for a fun and adventurous accessory to any room. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 53% | Activity: 58% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Upcycling Play Equipment:** Creating new and innovative products from salvaged playground equipment. - **Playful Furniture Design:** Incorporating playful and whimsical themes in furniture design. - **Sustainable Furnishings:** Using salvaged materials to create sustainable furnishings. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Developing unique and sustainable designs for furniture manufacturing. - **Playground Equipment Manufacturing:** Repurposing salvaged playground equipment to create new products. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating fun and whimsical designs into interior design projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unexpected Boundary-Pushing Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair.md) - [Playground-Inspired Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swing-seat.md) - [Playful Recycled Aluminum Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuba-chair.md) - [Development Childhood Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-and-chair-set.md) - [Repair-Friendly School Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carrousel-chair.md) - [Swivelling Marbled Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/landmark-project.md) - [Recycled Scissor-Like Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauld-chair.md) - [Recycled Dynamic Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bultan-chair.md) - [Sustainable Structural Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-limbo-chair.md)
