The diner and bar, owned by "real estate and nightclub-restaurateur" Thomas Wackman, features a cool modern spin on [retro diner aesthetics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superfreak-cafe). The first floor is home to Dick's Pizza and features a cantilevered marble table, an open kitchen and metallic red vinyl accents and chrome bar stools reminiscent of old school diners. Featuring red LED lighting and gigantic anime wall murals, the space effectively creates a contrast between its stark white walls and high-impact decor. The music played is a mix of [nu-disco, urban funk and glam rock](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bun-house-disco), says the Retail Design Blog. Upstairs is Dick's Pleasure, which Slick+Design USA has turned into an interesting nightlife experience with color-changing LED lights, provocative anime murals and a "one-of-a-kind shot bar" done in bright pink with a matching pink Birch tree sculpted out of metal. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Retro Diner Aesthetics:** Opportunity for businesses to incorporate vintage-inspired design elements in modern spaces. - **Color-changing LED Lights:** Potential for creating immersive nightlife experiences with dynamic lighting. - **Anime-inspired Decor:** Emerging trend of incorporating Japanese animation elements in interior design. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Hospitality:** Hotels, restaurants, and bars can adopt retro diner aesthetics to create unique and visually appealing dining experiences. - **Entertainment:** Nightclubs and entertainment venues can leverage color-changing LED lights to enhance the atmosphere and offer a dynamic nightlife experience. - **Interior Design:** Design firms and interior decorators can explore the trend of incorporating anime-inspired decor elements in their projects, catering to clients who seek unique and eye-catching designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro Sandwich Diners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/renzo-sandwich.md) - [New York Diner Redesigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capital-city-diner.md) - [Glowing Chicken Restaurant Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinos-famous-chicken.md) - [Modernist Burger Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omg-burger-i.md) - [Retro-Futurist Restaurant Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuturist-restaurant.md) - [Light-Focused Warm Diner Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-years-diner.md) - [Space Tourism-Inspired Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ichi-station.md) - [Cinematically Designed Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daphne-restaurant.md) - [Old School Glamorous Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carlotta.md)
