The Sleuk Rith Institute, a building which will serve as the headquarters for the Documentation Center of Cambodia, is also set to become world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid's first big wood-based project. The Documentation Center was created to document the atrocities of the Cambodia's brutal Khmer Rouge regime.

The project will include a massive memorial park as well as [sports fields](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fukushima-united), orchards and traditional Cambodian sculptures.

The materials used to construct the Sleuk Rith Institute will consist largely of [sustainably sourced timber](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cleveland-foundation), and will be equipped with [roof-based photovoltaic cells](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alisher-navoi) as well as a solar thermal array for hot water. It will also be fitted with water treatment facilities and heat exchangers.

Construction on the institute is set to begin some time next year.
