Each bus is equipped with 22 sleep pods, a pair of toilets, lockers for personal items as well as pet kennels. The inclusion of pet kennels is an innovative measure, because most homeless shelters don't allow people to bring in their pets. Because the homeless after often targets of abuse and harassment, the Sleepbus has been designed with a high-tech security system. The Sleepbus was conceived by Australian national Simon Rowe, who experienced homeless living himself some decades ago. The innovation is not designed to replace regular homeless shelters, hostels or low-income dwellings but is designed to supplement them and fill a different need altogether. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sleeping Pods for Homeless:** innovative sleeping pods provide temporary shelter for homeless individuals - **Inclusive Homeless Shelters:** inclusion of pet kennels and high-tech security systems in homeless shelters - **Supplementing Existing Shelters:** innovative buses that supplement regular homeless shelters, hostels, and low-income dwellings ### Who This Affects Most - **Transportation:** opportunity to design and manufacture innovative buses with sleeping pods for homeless individuals - **Pet Industry:** opportunity to design and produce pet kennels for inclusion in homeless shelters - **Security Systems:** opportunity to develop and install high-tech security systems in homeless shelters ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Homeless Support Backpacks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-makeshift-traveler-backpack.md) - [Compact Fully-Functioning Camp Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/busbox.md) - [Multifunctional Transport Buses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubblic-public.md) - [Semi-Amphibious Bus Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/estuary-hopper.md) - [Autonomous Interactive Shuttle Buses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coach-atoz-shuttle-bus.md) - [Progressive Sleeper Transit Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2050-lab.md) - [Reconfigurable Travel Pod Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pix-robobus.md) - [Cooling Bus Shelter Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cooling-bus-shelter.md) - [Humanized Waiting Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/de-wachtkamer.md)
