# Badly Behaved Coat Racks Ana Mir and Emili Padros Write on the Wall With the Slastic Coat Rack By Jessica Marcel | Published 2010-01-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slastic-coat-rack References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/slastic-coat-rack-by-ana-mir-and-emili-padros/) & [madeindesign](http://www.madeindesign.co.uk/prod-Slastic-refmp01-moustache.html) The Slastic Coat Rack is an artistic excuse to make a mess, as long as you don’t mind permanent markings on your wall. Ana Mir and Emili Padros designed the rack, which has five [colored pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crayon-pine) attached to an elastic line. The Slastic Coat Rack creates [childlike art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doodleface) in its utter disregard for white walls. When coats, jackets and scarves are hung on the Slastic Coat Rack, each colored pencil leaves a mark. While the rack may not set the best example for children, it’s a very fun decor item for adults. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 2% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Interactive Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the possibilities of furniture that encourages user creativity and engagement. - **Artistic Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop unique and unconventional decor items that serve as conversation starters and express individuality. - **Personalized Expression:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create products that allow individuals to showcase their personality and creativity in their living spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce innovative furniture designs that transform traditional pieces into interactive and artistic forms. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Rethink traditional home decor items to incorporate artistic elements and personalization options. - **Stationery and Art Supplies:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop art supplies and stationery that can be integrated into functional products for unique self-expression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tripod-Like Garment Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-coat-rack.md) - [Wall-Mounted Wall Rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velto.md) - [Playful Monkey-Inspired Coat Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monkey-coat-stand.md) - [Sporty Climbing-Inspired Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger.md) - [Smiley Clothing Wall Hooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/itsahook.md) - [Wall Art Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/justin-case.md) - [Quirky Structural Clothes Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hang-we.md) - [Storage-Equipped Restaurant Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rack-chair.md) - [Envelope-Style Shoe Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shoe-storage-rack.md)
