# Futuristic Electric Aircraft Concepts The Awwa Sky Whale Airplane Design Launched at CES 2014 By Michael Baxter | Published 2014-01-08 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sky-whale References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/AWWA-Sky-Whale-Concept-Plane/11891085) & [tuvie](http://www.tuvie.com/awwa-sky-whale-concept-plane-by-oscar-vinals/) The cool thing about concepts is that you get to go a little crazy with the design aspect and Awwa has that part down to a science with the ‘Sky Whale.’ It is a concept for the [future of air travel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-3500) but looks much more like a [Star Trek spacecraft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-walkers). One of the biggest buzzwords of the decade is "green." Preserving the planet and cleaning up some of the messes we've already made is becoming a top priority for many businesses. The Sky Whale is looking to clean up the business of air travel from top to bottom with innovations like [fuel and electric usage for power](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tidal-flight), active air flow and self-healing skin. There are a lot of ‘could-be’ innovations on the plane but the wishful thinking, if planned out properly, could actually be a huge boost to the industry. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.9/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 100% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Science](https://www.trendhunter.com/science) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Electric Air Travel:** Innovations like electric usage for power and active air flow can disrupt air travel and reduce carbon footprint. - **Futuristic Aircraft Design:** Concepts like the Sky Whale can be an inspiration for designers to create more innovative and visually striking aircraft. - **Sustainable Aviation:** Innovations like fuel efficiency and self-healing skin can revolutionize aviation and make it more environmentally friendly. ### Who This Affects Most - **Aviation:** The aviation industry can benefit from futuristic aircraft designs and sustainable innovations for cleaner air travel. - **Design:** Designers can create more innovative and visually striking aircraft based on futuristic aircraft concepts like the Sky Whale. - **Renewable Energy:** The push towards electric air travel can create opportunities for renewable energy companies to provide green energy solutions for aviation. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Renewable Energy Aircrafts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarpowered-aircraft.md) - [Sustainable Air Travel Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airspace-cabin-vision-2035-concept.md) - [Zero-Emission Solar-Powered Aircrafts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/falcon-horizon.md) - [Avian African Aircraft Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aircraft-concepts.md) - [Folding Wing eVTOL Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evtol-concept-design.md) - [Hydrodynamic Avian-Inspired Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wakinyan-catamaran-yacht.md) - [Helium-Filled Airship Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-yacht.md) - [Supersonic Aircraft-Inspired EVs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concorde-20.md) - [Hydrogen-Powered Hypersonic Airplanes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sky-magnetar.md)
