The planter is crafted from a mix of [recycled polypropylene](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tilt-planter) along with stainless steel and terra cotta that is intended to be hung from the ceiling instead of being placed on a surface. This allows the planters to be positioned virtually anywhere in a space and will help to [integrate lush greenery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loopo-green-system) into an area where floor area might be limited. The Sky Planter addresses the increasing shift towards [smaller living spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aerospring-pinch-hydroponic-system) and the need for products that help to make them feel more homy while also saving as much floorspace as possible in the process. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Upside-down Planters:** Disruptive innovation: Develop a line of affordable self-watering vertical planters for small apartments. - **Recycled Material Planters:** Disruptive innovation: Create a subscription service for nationwide plant rental using eco-friendly planters made from recycled materials. - **Ceiling-hung Planters:** Disruptive innovation: Introduce IoT technology for remote monitoring and care of plants in ceiling-hung planters for efficient plant maintenance in urban settings. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation: Integrate eco-friendly, minimalist design in home decor, and expand the product line to cater to the aesthetic preferences of millennials and Gen Z. - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation: Develop modular, eco-friendly buildings with integrated hanging gardens and interior greenery, using the Sky Planter as inspiration. - **Landscaping:** Disruptive innovation: Provide a service for the installation and maintenance of ceiling-hung planters in commercial spaces, catering to urban consumers' growing interest in greenery. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artsy Hanging Plants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-air-plant-mobile.md) - [Chic Self-Watering Garden Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowpear-mini-bench.md) - [Trellis-Equipped Indoor Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blume-planter.md) - [Futuristic Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-klaustrafloria.md) - [Water Catch-Integrated Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hemisphere.md) - [Basket-Inspired Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloom-engine-spot.md) - [Vertical Workstation Wall Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-wall-planter.md) - [Furniture-Inspired Indoor Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-garden-system.md) - [Office-Space Luscious Planets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bisley.md)
