A group of scientists and engineers working out of [Carnegie Mellon University](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reskin) in the USA have developed an innovative new technology and system, dubbed SkinTrack, that is designed to make it possible for you to control a device by moving your finger across your skin in the vein of a touchscreen.

The device's workings are wonderfully well designed. The smartwatch in question is fitted to a strap that is embedded with electrodes. Meanwhile, one finger on your other arm is adorned with a ring that emits a special electrical signal. As this finger touches the arm that's wearing the watch, an electrical signal is conveyed -- even if the skin is covered in clothing. This system allows users to run their finger across their skin in order to perform [scrolling, zooming and drawing functions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantomy-software).

Ultimately, the SkinTrack technology is sure to be incorporated by a variety of tech manufacturers in the years to come, as touchscreen control becomes even more convenient than ever.
