The Brooklyn-based artist puts on a performance to create his latest collection of paintings. With a makeshift ramp covered in a detachable canvas, he has managed to create abstract skateboard art to the delight of his audience. Titled Wall Ride, the skateboard art is installed at the [Mana Contemporary](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/genshin-impact-cookbook) in Jersey City. In order to create the soft colorful strokes against the white canvas, Reilly outfitted the wheels with saturated sponges in vibrant shades of blue, red and brown. Resembling Jackson Pollock’s and Aaron Young’s [abstract art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-art-of-competition), his skateboard art is vastly entertaining on a variety of levels. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 92% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Skateboard Art:** There is a growing trend of using skateboards as a canvas for artistic expression, presenting new opportunities for artists. - **Performance Art:** The combination of skateboarding and painting as a performance art presents new avenues for creativity and entertainment. - **DIY Art:** Reilly's use of a makeshift ramp covered in detachable canvas presents a trend towards DIY art where unconventional materials and settings are used for artistic expression. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** There is a disruptive innovation opportunity for artists in exploring new mediums and settings for art, such as the use of skateboards as canvases. - **Entertainment:** The use of performance art combining different forms of expression, such as skateboarding and painting, presents new opportunities for entertainment. - **Sports:** The trend towards using unconventional materials and settings for skateboarding presents new avenues for innovation in the sports industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Psychedelic Skateboard Decks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-psychedelia.md) - [Iconic Pop Art Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skateroom-x-andy-warhol-foundation.md) - [Skateable Pyramid Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playlab.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Skateboard-Inspired Stamp Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skateboard-inspired-stamp-collection.md) - [Blue Silkscreen Skateboard Decks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kai-and-sunny-1.md) - [Collaborative Monochromatic Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collaborative-monochromatic-art-exhibition.md) - [Skateboard-Themed Photography Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rabbit-hole-1.md) - [Childlike Characters Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childlike-characters-art-exhibition.md)
