# Illuminated Aluminum Artwork The 'Sitooterie II' is Made of Over 5,000 Tubes Glued Together By Michael Hines | Published 2010-09-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sitooterie-ii References: [dvice](http://dvice.com/archives/2010/09/image-of-the-da-26.php) & [heatherwick](http://www.heatherwick.com/) Oftentimes art projects sound odd in theory, but look awesome in practice. Case in point: the 'Sitooterie II' from [Heatherwick Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/belvedere-park). The idea behind Sitooterie II was to glue 5,000 [aluminum pipes together](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leopard-bench). At night, the center of the structure would illuminate, flooding the [tubes with light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible). Sitooterie II looks amazing during the day or the night; when the tubes are illuminated, the whole thing looks as though it is shooting off lasers of light.
