# Bunker-Like Holiday Homes Sintija Vaivade's Summer Home Design Features Raw Concrete By Joey Haar | Published 2018-04-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sintija-vaivade References: [archdaily](https://www.archdaily.com/891610/holiday-house-deer-sintija-vaivade-arhitekte) Traditionally, holiday homes tend to be quaint and rural as a respite from the more aggressive, modern designs of city abodes, but Sintija Vaivade's design for a family vacation property subverts that idea. The residence is designed with bold angles and materials very directly tied to urban architecture, including a liberal use of concrete. While Sintija Vaivade's design carries many of the signatures of a bunker, like a low profile and plenty of raw concrete, the home doesn't have the dinginess that one might associate with a bunker. It has plenty of windows facing in multiple directions thanks to the irregular angles throughout the home's layout, so it receives ample natural light during the course of the day. The interior also has an open-concept layout, which further adds to the airy, spacious feel throughout the home.
