# Multi-Functional Sink Hybrids This Sink-Shower Hybrid Will Save a Lot of Space in Small Bathrooms By Michael Baxter | Published 2014-02-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sinkshower-hybrid References: [psfk](http://www.psfk.com/2014/02/combination-shower-sink.html) & [kononenkoid](http://kononenkoid.com/) It’s tough to understand what a sink-shower hybrid would look like. Considering they’re both staples in every bathroom, it seems like it would make sense for a hybrid to come around, but the design aspect was an issue. The vision has become reality though as Julia Kononenko has come through again with a brilliant bathroom innovation. The design of this sink-shower hybrid is extremely dependent on the bathroom that it’s being placed in as it works best for [smaller bathrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archiplan-compact-basin-collection). The [sink and shower](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luneup) have to be placed side by side as they share the same shower head/ tap. The shower head tilts between being vertical (for the shower) and horizontal (for the sink). It looks quite simple, but it can save quite a lot of space in more cramped bathrooms. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Space-saving Bathroom Fixtures:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new designs for bathroom fixtures that combine functionality to save space in small bathrooms - **Hybrid Design Solutions:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the possibilities of combining different fixtures or furniture to create hybrid designs for improved functionality and space optimization - **Adaptable Plumbing Systems:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop plumbing systems that can easily switch between different functions to accommodate hybrid fixtures in bathrooms ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Bathroom Fixtures Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Manufacturers can invest in research and development to create innovative bathroom fixtures that address space constraints - **Interior Design and Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designers and architects can incorporate hybrid fixtures into their design plans to create functional yet space-saving bathroom solutions - **Plumbing and Sanitary Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Plumbing professionals can leverage their expertise to design adaptable plumbing systems that can accommodate the integration of hybrid fixtures ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Closed-Loop Bathing Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upfall-shower.md) - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Utility-Focused Bathroom Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/showdown-system.md) - [Angular Ceramic Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/angle-washbasin.md) - [Pressure-Sensitive Shower Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-shower-concept.md) - [Demure Hand Shower Faucets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bell-jar-shower-head.md) - [Accessible Shower Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/accessible-showers.md) - [Elegant Kitchen Sink Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-sink-system.md) - [Bathroom Shower Head Splitters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tandem-shower-by-boona.md)
