The [battery-powered](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aero-pro), single-wheel skateboard from Hoverboard Technologies offers enough speed, power and balance that riders can easily imagine they are traveling on a futuristic vehicle. The single-wheel skateboard has on-board lights and speakers, as well as "ground-detecting sonar" that automatically keeps the board balanced. It reaches a top speed of 20 miles per hour and has a battery life of 12 miles with a standard battery and 20 miles with an extended one. The single-wheel skateboard may not be enough to convince sci-fi sticklers that the hoverboard is actually among us, but it is a fast, eco-friendly and fun ride -- a great alternative to [bikes, scooters and traditional skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tltboard-gorilla). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Transportation](https://www.trendhunter.com/transportation) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Electric Skateboards:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the electric skateboard market with futuristic features like on-board lights and speakers. - **Personal Mobility Devices:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the personal transportation industry with the development of single-wheel skateboards for eco-friendly and fast rides. - **Futuristic Transportation:** Innovation opportunities in the transportation industry with the creation of battery-powered, single-wheel skateboards that reach top speeds of 20 miles per hour and have a battery life of up to 20 miles. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Sports Equipment:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the sports equipment industry with the introduction of advanced electric skateboards that provide a futuristic and exciting ride experience. - **Sustainable Transportation:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the sustainable transportation industry with eco-friendly personal mobility devices like the battery-powered, single-wheel skateboard. - **Entertainment Technology:** Innovation opportunities in the entertainment technology industry with the integration of on-board lights, speakers, and advanced balancing systems in single-wheel skateboards. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [All-Terrain Electric Skateboard Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twowheel-electric-board.md) - [Bluetooth-Operated Motorized Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-electric-skateboard.md) - [Skateboard-Inspired Electric Scooters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bustin-boards-skatex.md) - [Intuitive Remote-Free Electric Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-skateboard.md) - [All Terrain Electric Skis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skwheel-one.md) - [Onewheel Off-Road Board](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/offroad-board.md) - [Modular Monowheel Hoverboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/naowheel.md) - [Racing-Ready Electric Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mach-one-electric-skateboard.md) - [Performance Electric Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onewheel-gt-sseries.md)
