# One-Song Stereos The Single Plays Tune of Your Choice for Background Listening By Andrew Robichaud | Published 2009-07-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/single-music-player References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/07/16/it-plays-only-my-one-song/) Instead of putting on a random CD or [iPod](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/classipod) and having to continuously go back to change the song because the one playing isn’t a crowd favorite, The Single music player does what the name entails and [plays only one song](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowsky-disc). You upload said song to The Single via USB and play it in the background (you know, just to set the mood…I would suggest classical). The futuristic design features a single button on the rounded interface that is a ‘play’ and ‘pause’ button for the Single. Keep the focus of the party on conversation! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Personalized Background Listening:** The trend of customizable music players that allow users to choose a single song for background listening. - **Simplified Music Controls:** The trend of music players with minimalist design and a single play/pause button for easy use. - **Enhanced Party Experience:** The trend of innovative music solutions that allow for uninterrupted conversations at parties. ### Where This Applies - **Consumer Electronics:** The consumer electronics industry can explore opportunities for developing personalized music players with simplified controls. - **Music Streaming Services:** Music streaming services can incorporate features for users to create customized playlists for background listening. - **Event Planning:** Event planning industry can adopt innovative music solutions to enhance the party experience with uninterrupted conversations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multifunctional Compact Music Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playdisc.md) - [Aesthetically Pleasing CD Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-cd-player.md) - [Modernized Portable Music Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tl1-music-player.md) - [Anti-Distraction Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cravt-speaker.md) - [Retro Smartphone Music Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartphone-music-player.md) - [90s-Inspired Music Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bang-olufsen4.md) - [Minimalist CD Player Peripherals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tinyl-cover.md) - [Music-Driven Pleasure Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/groove-thing.md) - [Playfully Retro CD Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/k8-cd-player.md)
