# Subtly Transparent Cupboards The Sine Cabinet by Dik Scheepers Shows of Shadow of What's Inside By Meghan Young | Published 2013-01-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sine-cabinet References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/sine-cabinet-by-dik-scheepers/) & [dikscheepers.nl](http://www.dikscheepers.nl/products/130-cabinet) Cabinets are great pieces of furniture for [storage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ratio-series), but sometimes items pile up and get lost in the mix, a problem that the Sine Cabinet acknowledges but doesn't necessarily address. The Sine Cabinet is made up of subtly [transparent PVC panels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aurala120a) that show the shadowy silhouette of the objects inside. As people put more and more things in it, the Sine Cabinet becomes less transparent. This should encourage people to be more conscious of what they store in it. The Sine Cabinet was designed by Dutch designer Dik Scheepers. Complete with an [oak wood frame](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nick-james) and brass fittings, the cupboard has a delightful aesthetic that is quite unique. In fact, the ribbed panels give it an industrial feel. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Transparent Storage Solutions:** The use of transparent materials in storage furniture offers a visually intriguing way to showcase the contents inside. - **Conscious Storage Practices:** The Sine Cabinet's transparency feature prompts users to be more mindful of what they choose to store and display. - **Innovative Aesthetic Design:** The ribbed panels and combination of oak wood and brass fittings in the Sine Cabinet demonstrate a unique industrial aesthetic for furniture design. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the furniture industry can explore incorporating transparent materials and innovative designs into their storage product lines. - **Home Organization:** Companies within the home organization industry can leverage the concept of conscious storage practices to develop new storage solutions that promote decluttering and mindfulness. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize the Sine Cabinet's innovative aesthetic design as inspiration for creating visually striking and unique spaces for their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Forest-Inspired Wooden Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hayashi-cabinet.md) - [Japanese-Inspired Cabinet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/veil-cabinets.md) - [Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet.md) - [Cabinet-Concealed Modern Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obelisk-3.md) - [Tropical Island-Inspired Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weaver-cabinet.md) - [Thoughtful Wheeling Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet-on-wheels.md) - [Minimal Four-Legged Wooden Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/exposure-cabinet.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Miniature Sanitized Cabinet Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yujin-lee.md)
