# Insect-Like Home Furnishings The Steel and Glass Sinclair Coffee Table Comes in 12 Colors By Katie Cordrey | Published 2010-07-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sinclair-coffee-table References: [lukashaller.wordpress](http://lukashaller.wordpress.com/2010/07/18/sinclair-coffeetable/) & [lukashaller.wordpress](http://lukashaller.wordpress.com/) The Sinclair coffee table is the creation of Zurich-based Lukas Haller, who is an architect at JOY architecture. The coffee table's frame is comprised of bent steel tubes that appear to be color powder-coated. The table top is colored safety glass. Haller’s design aim was to make the coffee table a sort of house pet with an insect-like stance. The Sinclair coffee table is lightweight and easy to move from room to room, and the diamond shape of the top helps prevent shin-dents for those walking around it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Insect-themed Furniture:** Opportunity for designers to explore incorporating insect-like features in home decor, creating playful and unique pieces. - **Lightweight Furniture:** There is a market opportunity for designers to create lightweight furniture that is easy to move around homes or offices. - **Colored Safety Glass:** Safety glass with colored tints provides the potential for creating colorful and unique pieces of furniture, with added safety features. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Designers can explore incorporating insect-like features or experimenting with safety glass colors in furniture design. - **Home Decor:** Insect-themed furniture or lightweight furniture would appeal to those looking for unique home decor. - **Architecture:** Architects can experiment with incorporating playful and unique furniture pieces in building designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bent Steel Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/creu-coffee-table.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Geometric Glass Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soda-iced-table.md) - [Blurred Bold Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blur-coffee-table.md) - [Ultra-Minimalist Metallic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whisk.md) - [Industrial All-Metal Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lockwerk-coffee-table.md) - [Dynamic Strong Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table.md) - [Simplistic Glass Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simoon-collection.md) - [Optically-Designed Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigma-coffee-tables.md)
