Specially built to play a Sex Pistols LP, Jansen's steampunk record player is made completely from junk. The boiler of the record player is made from a copper water pipe, while the bespoke platter and base consist of wood. The Arduino-controlled steampunk turntable also contains an analog meter to display the speed. According to Simon Jansen, the record player needs a bit more work in order to work well with software. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Steampunk Creations:** Explore the growing trend of creating steampunk-inspired artworks, gadgets, and inventions using upcycled materials. - **Junk Art:** Discover the trend of creating unique and artistic pieces by repurposing junk or discarded materials. - **Analog Revival:** Witness the resurgence of interest in analog technology and handmade craftsmanship, as seen in the upcycled record player. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can explore new avenues for creativity by incorporating steampunk aesthetics and utilizing recycled materials. - **Sustainable Manufacturing:** In the field of manufacturing, there is an opportunity to develop eco-friendly production processes that repurpose junk or waste materials into functional and aesthetically pleasing products. - **Music Technology:** The music technology industry can explore the creation of unique and visually appealing analog devices that combine vintage charm with modern functionality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Motor-Shaped Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rotor-vinyl-record-player.md) - [Ultra-Modern Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-record-players.md) - [Style-Conscious Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upright-vinyl-record-player.md) - [Industrial Aesthetic Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/project-automat-a2.md) - [Omni-Position Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-wheel-turntable.md) - [Modernized Millennial Record Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/asenso-record-player.md) - [Nixie Tube-Equipped Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nixie-tube-turntable.md) - [Architecture-Inspired Turntables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rytm-1.md) - [Retro-Modern Turntable Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertical-turntable-concept.md)
