The dynamics of the images change as Berger fills each shot with [raining light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shapes-of-light) that is juxtaposed against the [shadowy darkness](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightware-series) of the frame. Each shot appears to be taken in the dark of night, where you can barely make out the urban background. Yet, the glimpses of graffiti show the true environment of the photographs. The captures appear to have a film noir feel emphasized in the the shots that incorporate [an umbrella as prop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inbetween-umbrella). As the figure leans against the side of the wall, one can only imagine them as a cynical crime-solving detective waiting for their femme fatale. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Luminescent Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new techniques or technologies to capture luminosity and create captivating visual effects. - **Film Noir Aesthetics:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine traditional film noir elements with modern visuals to create a unique and immersive storytelling experience. - **Shadow and Light Contrast:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create new ways to manipulate light and shadow in photography to convey emotions and narratives. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate advanced image processing algorithms or artificial intelligence to enhance photo editing capabilities and create unique visual styles. - **Film and TV Production:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways of using lighting techniques and digital effects to enhance the visual impact of film and television projects. - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Experiment with unconventional materials and techniques to create visually stunning and thought-provoking artworks that play with light and shadow. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Physics-Based Artful Light Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aura-collection-1.md) - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md) - [Emotional Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection.md) - [Striking Glass Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-portraits.md) - [Tree Branch-Formed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-attraction.md) - [Illuminated Curtained Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible.md) - [Artfully Liquid-Like Light Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cairn-lamp.md) - [Immersive Light Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spencer-finch.md) - [Shadow-Inspired Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightware-series.md)
