The town was founded in 1957 to act as a home for the brightest minds of the Soviet Union. After a period of decline, the town is now becoming a hub for 21st century innovation. The main institution in the 'Silicon Forest' that is Akademgorodok is a 13-storey [start-up incubator](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/global-hub) called Akadempark. Start-ups here pitch their ideas and are then given one year to make their companies profitable. While Silicon Forest is still a long way from [Silicon Valley](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/max-zone), the presence of start-up and entrepreneurial minds bodes very well for the town located 3,400 kilometers east of Moscow. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 68% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Entrepreneurship Hub:** The rise of Akademgorodok as an innovation and entrepreneurship hub presents opportunities for supporting services and resources for entrepreneurs. - **Start-up Incubator:** The presence of Akadempark as a 13-storey start-up incubator offers opportunities for providing specialized support and services to start-ups. - **Innovation Community:** The growth of the Silicon Forest community in Akademgorodok creates opportunities for networking events, collaboration platforms, and innovation-focused initiatives. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Support Services:** The growth of the innovation and entrepreneurship hub in Akademgorodok presents opportunities for support services such as mentorship programs, business consulting, and funding platforms. - **Co-working Spaces:** The rise of start-ups in Akademgorodok calls for the development of co-working spaces that cater to the specific needs of entrepreneurs and provide a collaborative environment. - **Technology Transfer:** The innovation community in Silicon Forest provides opportunities for technology transfer and partnerships between universities, research institutions, and start-ups for commercializing innovative ideas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tree-Inspired Panelled Workspaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hood-design-studio.md) - [On-Campus Business Incubators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/innovate-bay.md) - [Sovereign AI Research Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-research-hub.md) - [Japanese Creative Innovation Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karimoku-research.md) - [Innovation-Focused Digital Metaverses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forbes.md) - [AI-Assisted Photo Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vsco-ai-lab.md) - [Intelligent Urban Infrastructure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intelligent-urban-infrastructure.md) - [Urban Data Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spark-716.md) - [Global AI Research Labs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/global-ai-research.md)
