# Iconic Outlined Illuminators Silhouette Lamp Embodies the Familiar Form of the Incandescent Bulb By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-11-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silhouette-lamp References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2013/11/10/silhouette-lamp/) & [cargocollective](http://cargocollective.com/mparsons/Silhouette-Lamp) At once, the Silhouette Lamp is both quite standard-looking and quite contemporary in appearance. This delightful light fixture emulates the recognizable shape of the incandescent lightbulb ( establishing its function), yet it does not actually feature the light globe that you might expect. Mark Parsons' piece copies the contours of the Edison-esque source of illumination with material that [outlines a bulbous void](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp). The inside of the enclosed curves has been fitted with LED lights continuously that emit a nice bright glow. The base of the Silhouette Lamp has been developed such that it can be fitted as a [pendant lamp, as a wall lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impulse-wall-light), or simply placed upon a surface as a table lamp. A single button switches it on, establishing this as quite a [minimalist and iconic device](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-lighting-design). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Outlined Illuminators:** The trend of using outlined shapes in light fixtures creates a contemporary and minimalist aesthetic. - **Emulating Incandescent Bulbs:** Designs that mimic the shape of incandescent lightbulbs offer a nostalgic and familiar appeal. - **Versatile Lamp Bases:** Light fixtures with flexible base designs offer multiple installation options for various lighting needs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting:** The lighting industry can leverage outlined illuminators to create innovative and visually appealing products. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can embrace designs that emulate incandescent bulbs to offer customers a nostalgic and unique lighting experience. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize versatile lamp bases to create dynamic lighting arrangements and enhance the overall aesthetic of a space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Tech Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20.md) - [Face Mask-Made Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anonymlux-lamp.md) - [Silkworm-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting.md) - [Oversized Pen Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bic-lamp.md) - [Minimal Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md) - [Chic Cyberpunk Sunset Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhaus-sunset-lamp.md)
