The Storytellers, comprised of Rachel and Marcos Caetano Ribas from the beach town of Parati, have been traveling the world with the puppets which they made by hand. The peculiar thing about these marionettes is that all the communication between them and the audience is done only through [gestures, and not the spoken word](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/subtitle-system). “I believe that some of the vignettes that we have presented would not work properly if they were done by live actors,” the couple told PingMag. It’s really amazing how these puppets can communicate [feelings and human emotions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tidal-stories) without a verbal exchange. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Adult Puppetry:** The rising trend of using puppets to tell adult-oriented stories provides an opportunity to disrupt the traditional theater industry and offer new, innovative and immersive performances - **Verbal Communication Alternatives:** Creating new and innovative ways to communicate nonverbally could disrupt various industries dependent on verbal communication such as customer service, language translation, and disabilities support - **Minimalism in Theatre:** The use of puppetry to tell stories through minimalist elements could disrupt traditional theatre, allowing for more productions to be executed with low-costs but still with high artistic value. ### Where This Applies - **Theatre:** The puppetry trend in theatre industry provides a potential disruption to the traditional forms of performance, allowing lower budget productions and exploring new forms of storytelling. - **Customer Service:** Developments in nonverbal communication could significantly enhance customer service by allowing facilitators to communicate in unique and innovative ways. - **Translation Services:** Disruptive innovation in the fields of nonverbal communication could revolutionize the translation services industry, helping to break down language barriers in new ways. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hand-Knit Finger Puppets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/finger-puppet-mushrooms.md) - [Immersive Balloon Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-story-popup.md) - [Robotic Baby Car Puppets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iruyo-intelligent-puppet.md) - [Children Story Creators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cont.md) - [Custom Storytelling Audios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fairy-tales-narrated-with-your-voice.md) - [AI-Powered Storytelling Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coemo.md) - [Surreal Imaginative Fantastical Films](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/problemista.md) - [Children Storytelling Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/world-traveler-pretend-play.md) - [Oversized Pupper Fashion Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giant-puppets.md)
