Unlike other chairs that only allow for backward-forward rocking and products that allow for side-to-side movement but with open designs, the Sideways Rocker provides a secure, hug-like feel that supports soothing in motion. "Gentle lateral motion engages the vestibular system in a unique way that other products don't, while the [soft, supportive foam seat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocco) delivers proprioceptive calm to help them feel more grounded—an active, playful way for kids to self-regulate," said Jacob Fisch, CEO and Founder of Ted Kangaroo. The sensory Sideways Rocker is ideal for homes, classrooms and clinics, thanks to a durable vinyl shell, firm foam and a washable cover that zips into place. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 7.8/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 78% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Lateral Sensory Seating:** Side-to-side rocking designs signal a market shift toward motion-based products that combine vestibular stimulation with secure, calming furniture formats for children. - **Clinician-informed Play:** Products developed with therapeutic input are blurring the line between medical support and playful home goods, creating space for child-friendly regulation tools with everyday appeal. - **Washable Wellness Furniture:** Durable foam seating with zippered, cleanable covers reflects growing demand for sensory products suited to high-use environments such as classrooms, clinics and family homes. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Pediatric Therapy:** Therapeutic care settings gain new potential from furniture that embeds proprioceptive and vestibular support into familiar seating experiences for self-regulation. - **Educational Furniture:** Classroom environments are becoming a fertile category for sensory-aware furniture that supports calm, focus and movement without requiring separate intervention spaces. - **Assistive Technology:** Adaptive product makers can find opportunity in soft, secure, patentable designs that make regulation support more approachable for children and caregivers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Decor-Friendly Developmental Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playcor.md) - [Cooling SPF Sticks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kids-cooling-mineral-sunstick.md) - [Wooden Toy Lineups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toy-fair-2026.md) - [Art-Inspired Toy Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hape-x-the-met.md) - [Immersive Linen Previews](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-art-of-linen.md) - [Cosmetics-Inspired Slime Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glime.md) - [Portable Color-Changing Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tickit-sensory-glow-lantern.md) - [Mental Health Toy Curations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dose-of-play.md) - [Children's Book-Inspired Beers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-vault-city-marvellous-liquids.md)
